It’s a wrap, with LG Benif

20 October 2020

Interior films have come a long way. Benif by LG looks as good as wood but costs a fraction of the price.

Tekton is known in the automotive industry as a leading supplier of films for car windows. In recent years, the Guelph-based distributor has tapped into films specially made for architecture and interior design. They are now the sole Canadian supplier of LG Benif, a remarkable film that adheres to virtually any surface – and with a palette of over 500 colourways and natural textures, it has very few creative limits.

Hundreds of trend-forward finishes are available in solids, patterns and natural tones.

What LG Benif offers is a new way of thinking about design that refreshes rather than replaces. Earlier this year, Tekton worked with the Calgary Flames on an interior upgrade to the Scotiabank Saddledome. Rather than replace 70 of the stadium’s existing doors, LG Benif was applied to each door and other built-ins – an option that was not only economical it helped lengthen the lifespan of the existing interior elements.

Doors at the Saddledome in Calgary were given a new look with a natural wood finish.

Doors and walls are typical areas for application. But if you consider LG Benif’s resistance to heat, abrasion and scratching, it is also an ideal film for hard-wearing areas such as elevators and lobbies. It is also flexible enough to adhere to curves. Even furniture and fixtures can be re-imagined with a new LG Benif wrapping.

Warm metallic tones like copper remain a popular choice for retail and hospitality environments.

What further distinguishes LG Benif from other self-adhesive PVC interior films is thickness. At 10 to 12 mil (0.01 to 0.012 inches), it is almost twice as substantial as other brands. The additional heft allows for embossed textures, which give visual effects like wood grain the same three-dimensional depth as a rich veneer. And when installing, its thickness means fewer kinks and creasing. And seams? Well, they are virtually invisible to the eye.

LG Benif can cover almost any type of surface, including walls that curve.
