Integrated Lighting made Easy

8 September 2020

JLC-Tech’s latest downlight, called Gemini, integrates into suspended ceiling systems with ease

In 2010, product developer Silvio Porciatti came up with an elegant lighting solution for dropped ceiling systems: a linear-shaped diffused LED fixture that uses a patented design to replace cross-member ceiling grids. It’s that simple.

Since its launch, T-BAR LED products have been featured in many large-scale projects across North America, including the latest terminal at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. Architecture firm PGAL and HLB Lighting Design chose T-BAR LEDs to create a loosely arranged pattern of illuminated dashes that travel the length of the concourse’s sky-high ceiling and subtly echo the look of runway lights. The project, which earned an IES Award of Merit in 2018, is an inspiring example of how the fixtures can be used effectively and creatively.

The T-BAR LED product line has continued to grow. This fall, the Massachusetts-based company launched its newest family member, the Gemini. The fixture is a 4-inch-wide linear downlight that earns its name due to its two distinct lens options; one that provides the look of a continuous ceiling grid, and a single lens that offers a more traditional slot fixture aesthetic.

Universally compatible clips allow the fixture to align perfectly and fit snuggly.

Unlike other linear downlights, Gemini’s installation requires no additional components for support and no need for a custom opening in order to be installed on center with the grid. Its trademarked integrated cross-tee allows the fixture to be clipped in and fit snuggly into standard 15/16” and 9/16” ceiling suspension systems. The result is a cohesive and seamless aesthetic.

Virtually launched in August, the Gemini is now available through regional dealerships across Canada.
